Ellen shares her thoughts on the Engineering Gender Pay gap

Following the Royal Academy of Engineering’s latest report on the gender pay gap in Engineering, we caught up with our Junior designer Ellen, to find out her thoughts.

“I’m pleased to hear that the gender pay gap in Engineering is smaller than the national average. However, we still have a long way to go to encourage more women to pursue a career in STEM, to not only align pay, but also to increase aspiration within the field. As I continue to grow in my career, I hope to inspire the next generation of engineers, regardless of gender, and show them that anyone with a flair for creativity and passion for what they do, can work in engineering.”

Ellen received distinctions across the board in her HNC in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing at Nottingham College. Her proudest achievement is building her own violin!

Ellen is our youth ambassador for Engineering here at Millitec, and we’re launching an #AskEllen campaign – if you or anyone in your family is looking at pursuing a career in engineering, please send us a message using the hashtag #AskEllen and we will get back to you!

If you would like to apply for a schools visit to Millitec and see engineering in action, please contact jean@millitec.com – we might even let you run our robots!
