A JOURNEY THROUGH PRODUCTION: THE SMALL BESPOKE CONVEYOR
Let's take a closer look at the impressive production journey of a small bespoke conveyor:
01. ORDER TAKEN
A customer requested a new process to be set up within the week. Despite it being an impossible delivery timeframe for most, we committed to delivering a small, customised conveyor within one day. Challenges are always welcome here at Millitec!
02. DESIGN
The conveyor's design comes to life in 3D CAD. During this phase, we carefully incorporate any special requests from the customer.
Meet one of our designers, who's busy adding side rails and adjusting the conveyor's length to align with the customer's specifications.
03. PRODUCTION PLANNING & PROGRAMMING
Transitioning from the design stage, we export files directly to our machine shop and fabrication department, kickstarting production. Here are some essential tasks during this stage:
1. MACHINE SHOP: PROGRAM THE CNC MACHINES
2. LASER TEAM: SET UP THE LASER CUTTER FOR PRECISION STEEL SHEET CUTTING
2. STORES: SELECT THE PARTS & UPDATE THE BOM
With these tasks completed, the conveyor is primed for the production stage.
04. LASER CUTTING
Our brand-new, cutting-edge flatbed laser cutter takes centre stage, precisely cutting sheet materials to a tolerance of 0.1mm.
The machine's legs and framework are also expertly cut using our state-of-the-art tube laser cutter.
05. MACHINE SHOP
Our CNC machine shop manufactures parts that are not readily available in stock.
06. FOLDING
The flat laser-cut components move to our folding section, where our new 7-axis CNC press efficiently shapes them.
07. FABRICATION
All main fabrication components enter production, meticulously welded together by our skilled and hygienic team of fabricators. Witness our expert fabricators working hard on the conveyor's bed and legs.
08. PANEL BUILD & FINISHING
Simultaneously, the control panel is crafted on a precision laser-cut gear plate, ready to complement the other components upon exiting the fabrication department.
The fabrication undergoes thorough cleaning and polishing. Any parts requiring bead blasting are meticulously treated in our dedicated stainless-steel blast room on-site.
09. ASSEMBLY
All component parts fabricated, machined, and carefully selected are ready for the final assembly stage.
Electronic drawings are shared with our technicians through touchscreen stations in our assembly area, ensuring a seamless and precise assembly process.
10. QUALITY CONTROL & CERTIFICATION
Once fully assembled, the final machine undergoes rigorous quality control checks. After passing the test, the machine is thoroughly cleaned, CE-marked and carefully packed for shipping.
