Maggie Throup MP takes a peek at our new robotics

Maggie Throup MP for Erewash visits the newest neighbours in town, Millitec, for a preview of the all new robotics collection.

Millitec Food Systems Ltd, who moved into Draycott at the end of 2019, were proud to welcome Maggie Throup, MP for Erewash last week.
Following an investment of over £1.2 million into the site just outside Derby, Millitec are continuing to invest in Research & Development, with around 25% of turnover and 40% of staff dedicated to innovation projects, robotics and Artificial Intelligence within the food processing industry.
Maggie met with Managing Director, Richard Ledger to discuss their shared love of science, community activity, engaging young people in STEM, and passion for the local area; before taking a tour of the site and meeting the robotics development team stationed within the dedicated robotics laboratory.
Of the visit, Maggie said, “It’s fantastic to see Millitec integrating into Erewash, becoming such a key part of the community and looking to engage more young people in STEM.” She continued “It is truly incredible that nestled between the old mills of Draycott, lies such a forward thinking and innovative organisation, designing and developing robots being shipped across the world.”
Richard Ledger said “We were thrilled to welcome Maggie to Millitec. We always take pride in showcasing the innovation we have spent so long perfecting, whilst also discussing our core values including STEM engagement. We’re looking forward to becoming an integral part of the Erewash Business Community”
Millitec designs, develops and manufactures next generation food automation machinery and robotics for the sandwich and food-to-go industry, and has created 9 jobs since moving to Derbyshire.
