Millitec to make not for profit ventilators for ICU and home use

With 15 years’ experience of high care manufacturing and robotics, world leader Millitec are using their expertise to support the global COVID-19 pandemic through developing a range of ICU and non-ICU ventilators. Both products will be made available to the NHS on a not for profit basis.

The non-ICU variant will feature its own oxygen concentrator, not relying on heavy and cumbersome oxygen tanks, helping the user’s ability to self-isolate, even in the home.

Millitec was one of many experienced engineering firms to offer support to the government to increase availability of ventilators. Understanding the pressure that Government is currently under, Millitec had already taken the leap and started work on these units without waiting for government support. As such we are already well underway with production.

Managing Director, Richard Ledger said “We can’t just sit around and do nothing, every day there are thousands of people dying worldwide and each of those lives lost is a tragedy.

“At Millitec, we have a fabulous team of design engineers now working on both an ICU ventilator and a fabulously innovative non-ICU version, as well as other anti-virus products. In particular the non-ICU ventilator could take away the need for people to attend hospital at all. As a company we are committed to supporting our fabulous NHS in any way that we can and these units will be produced for the NHS on a not for profit.”

Millitec are now calling for some volunteer experts to help guide them on the final stages of medical testing.

“We know the criticality of these ventilators” Ledger continued, “and are urgently seeking the support of relevant experts to guide us into the detail of standards and testing in order to make this life-saving product available.”

Millitec have teamed up with other local manufacturers whose, currently furloughed, production capacity could instantly produce these units in their thousands.

Experts in medical equipment engineering, standard testing and safety are being urged to contact Millitec on jean@millitec.com
